| 4. Saturn Aura |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
| This is called the Gran Turismo concept, it has a greenhouse that is very Infiniti G35, while the rest of it is fresh and beautiful while carrying over some styling cues from the current Vectra. And just look at those exhaust outlets-they’re as big as the taillights. The car’s turbocharged, 300 horsepower V-6 must be putting out some pretty intense fumes. The interior looks great too, and only a few shiny bits are far-fetched for production. |
| 5. Honda FCX |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
| The FCX concept is Honda’s latest take on fuel cells. Although its ultra-cab-forward body looks dramatically long, low, and wide, at 186 inches (15.5 feet) in overall length, the FCX is actually shorter than the Acura RL. It features a compact, Honda-developed fuel-cell stack in the middle of the car with two hydrogen tanks in the rear. The stack is actually much smaller than is now technologically feasible, but Honda says that it shows “our dream.” The novel four-wheel-drive system has one front 80-kW electric motor with two in-wheel, 25-kw motors at the rear. The deluxe cabin is outfitted with a mix of traditional Japanese materials–such as a wood floor–plus the latest gizmos. The dashboard rises up (toward the driver) as speed rises, supposedly to hold the driver’s attention, which leads us to wonder if the steering wheel is right in front of your nose once you reach triple digits. |
| 6. Maserati GranTurismo S |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
| S could stand for speed. A new 4.7-liter V-8 takes the place of the 4.2-lilter offered in the non-S car. Horespower is up 40 for a total of 440 and makes its way to the rear wheels via a semi-automatic transaxle. Dubbed MC-shift, the new transmission is a revised version of the DuoSelect box that’s offered on the Quattroporte sedan. S might also stand for stopping power. With greater power comes greater braking responsibility, so Maserati borrowed the Brembos from the Quattroporte Sport GT S for the job. The front discs use a dual-cast process to combine cast iron and aluminum. |

| With the launch of the so-called “Dino” entry-level Ferrari set for the Paris Motor Show this September, Ferrari used this year’s Geneva show to redirect attention to its 612 Scaglietti. The two-plus-two-seater, V-12 flagship grand touring coupe has been overshadowed the past two years by the 599GTB sports coupe, so the 612 was chosen as the debut vehicle for Ferrari’s new customization program, called Ferrari Atelier. This is a new, organized marketing effort to allow Ferrari customers to have their 612s tailor-made to their specific tastes. |
